Community Outreach Philosophy

New Swan is committed to fostering a passionate and loyal community. This begins by expanding our community’s demographics – not only when it comes to cultural backgrounds and ethnicities, but also by widening generational diversity. New Swan offers in-person and virtual seminars, special events, and live performances both on our campus as well as at high schools throughout Southern California.

Through our intentional outreach, we engage young students in various topics including the performing arts, creative writing, film studies, literature, and communication studies. New Swan brings the excitement of the Bard into classrooms across Orange County. We examine theatrical theory and practice through open discussion, cultural analysis, and active participation. Students practice empathy and explore opposing viewpoints by embodying and analyzing the roles of Shakespearean characters. Our goal is to increase students’ confidence and strengthen their leadership abilities by learning valuable communication ­skills and practicing cross-cultural awareness.
